Caleb Sturgis, pianist, songwriter
Caleb was born and raised in a big family here in Texas. The second of eight children, from a young age he grew up under his parents’ musical influence. At seven years old he started studying piano with his mother, started composing at fourteen, and became more involved with jazz bands, choir, and musical theatre all the way into college. Because he enjoyed and excelled at music, he studied and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music from University of Houston’s Moores School. Also, he had the opportunity to receive a Minor from the Chinese Department, and is fluent in Mandarin, speaking, reading, & writing. Versatile in various teaching methods, Caleb is a registered Suzuki Piano Teacher, and is familiar with and uses resources such as ABRSM (both practical & theory), Music Tree, and Bastien. He has taught in the Houston, Sugarland, Pearland, and Katy area for over ten years. Currently, besides his own Five Loaves Two Fish Music Studio, he performs around the greater Houston Area. November of 2014, Caleb finished his first self-written, full-length music album, “Five Loaves Two Fish,” (more CD info here).
